Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope Volunteer Committee

Description: The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is the largest and most powerful event of its kind in the country. It is the only walk in Canada to direct all attention and fundraising towards improving outcomes and saving the lives of people living with and at risk of ovarian cancer. Held annually during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, this family-friendly event raises vital funds to provide support, enable vital research and fuel advocacy efforts. The Walk is only possible with enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers like you. We are recruiting Committee Chair volunteers who are committed to the planning and execution a safe and successful community Walk experience. Key Responsibilities: Promote the Walk of Hope within your community and act as a community ambassador for the event and Ovarian Cancer Canada Attend monthly virtual meetings hosted by Ovarian Cancer Canada’s National Walk team to stay updated on important Walk news and provide feedback on event progress Work with local volunteer committee to assist in planning, promotion and day-of execution Ensure local budget is adhered to and submit all expenses for processing Approach local businesses and organizations for sponsorship dollars and/or prize donations Work with volunteers to coordinate services needed for the day-of (which may include: venue, entertainment, food and drink, guest speakers, supplies, etc.) Collect and report on the funds that were raised on event day Prepare and return all necessary materials to OCC’s national office post-walk Must be available to attend the Walk in-person at your location on Walk day To learn more visit: www.ovariancancerwalkofhope.ca

BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk Committee

Description: Are you ready to make a difference and have a blast while doing it? Join the BMO Walk So Kids Can Talk Committee and become a superhero for youth mental health across Canada! Together, we’ll plan, cheer, and step up to create an event filled with joy, connection, and impact. Whether you're a seasoned organizer or just passionate about the cause, we need your energy to make this year’s walk the most memorable yet. Event Committee Role Descriptions Committee Chair: Are you a natural leader and motivator? Help oversee the committee to ensure the success of the event in all capacities. Secretary: Attention to detail and organization are the key to keeping everyone on task and creating the best event experience for all event day participants, sponsors and volunteers. Volunteer Lead: Help recruit and train the event day volunteers, to ensure they are set up for success. Logistics Lead: Working alongside Kids Help Phone staff, this role will ensure all site logistics are in place and ready to go, this may include necessities such as tents, tables, stage, supplies, route markers, etc. Walk Route Lead: Identify the best walking route, while considering safety and ease of access. You will need to trouble shoot and address any route challenges that may occur, while ensuring all applicable permits and codes are attained and followed (along with the support of Kids Help Phone staff). Food & Beverage Lead: Organize onsite food and beverage distribution at the event and ensure all health and safety permits, codes and licenses are attained and followed. (I.e. Covid protocols). Sponsorship and Recognition Lead: Raising funds for Kids Help Phone’s 24/7 e-mental health services is the overall goal of our fundraising events. Help us stay open and accessible by leading the committee in sponsorship and participant recruitment efforts. Help to ensure our participants and sponsors feel supported and appreciated the whole way through, by staying connected with them, providing tips and celebrating their successes. Promotion and Recruitment Lead: Spread the word! Share details about the event by posting on community websites, social media pages, contributing to community partners and sponsors intranets or internal newsletters, working with local influencers and sourcing local media support.  Don’t forget about word of mouth! Youth Representative: Creating a meaningful event for our youth audience is essential. As a youth facing organization, the Youth Representative will bring the perspective we need, in order to ensure everyone is represented in our event planning and execution efforts. Of course, we will also ask you to help recruit other young people to participate too!

Dance Ability Recital Volunteer

Description: The Dance Workshop in Alliston will be putting on its annual dance recital on Saturday, May 24th in Orillia, ON. The Dance Ability Movement is an inclusive and adaptive dance program that runs out of The Dance Workshop, and our dancers are involved in the show! We are looking for volunteers to specifically help our dancers that are part of The Dance Ability Movement. Experience engaging with kids/youth and/or individuals with disabilities is an asset, but not required. Roles may include greeting dancers, engaging in games/activities in between dances, assisting dancers with costumes, etc. Recital day volunteers need not have dance experience as you won't be making a stage appearance (don't worry!). Further location and time details will be provided closer to the event.

Volunteer Literacy Tutor for Adult Students
