Description: Barrie Literacy Council Information Sessions and Tutor Training Workshops Are you interested in learning more about the Barrie Literacy Council? Who we are? What our Purpose is? We are here to help adults in our community bridge gaps in their reading, writing, math and computer skills, use these skills in everyday living, reach their own goals and improve their self-esteem. How we accomplish our goals? At the Barrie Literacy Council, we value volunteerism as the heart of our organization. We believe that volunteers play a crucial role in delivering our services effectively. Our Information Sessions are designed to answer these questions and introduce you to the various volunteer opportunities available, including: Tutors: Work one-on-one with a student to help improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Board and Committee Members: Help guide and manage the organization’s operations. If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, training sessions will follow shortly after the Information Session. 2025 Information Session and Tutor Training Schedule Information Session Date: March 6 (Thursday) Time: 10:00 – 11:30 AM Format: In Person Tutor Training Workshop Dates: March 20, 27, April 3, 10. Join the Walk and help break barriers to ensure those living with T1D can enjoy full, healthy lives. We need the support of committed volunteers to help make the day a success!
Tree Planting in city parks with Living Green Barrie.

Description: Join Living Green Barrie and plant trees with us in city parks. Free, open to the public, no experience necessary. Family friendly. Visit our events calendar for dates, time and details. https://livinggreenbarrie.com/events/ Great for students who are collecting volunteer hours for school. May and October are the months when tree planning happens. You do not have to be a Living Green volunteer, you just need to want to plant some trees and support Barrie's urban forests. We have 4 dates in May (registration required so we know how many to expect) Hope to see you there!
