Seasons Centre for Grieving Children is a charitable organization serving Simcoe County and beyond. Since December 1995 Seasons Centre has been providing peer to peer support groups for our community’s children/teens and their families grieving the death, or life-threatening illness of an immediate family member. Participants are supported through the grief process by professional program staff  and trained volunteer grief facilitators in a safe, non-judgmental, home like atmosphere. One of the goals of our peer support groups is to provide participants with the essential skills to promote grieving in healthy ways; thus, building resiliency in our children. Our programs are unique and are designed to provide children with the opportunity to express their feelings in socially acceptable ways. During the group sessions various grief emotions and coping strategies are discussed in child friendly ways. Many of our participants have expressed that Seasons Centre is the only place where they have felt comfortable, understood, and not alone in their grief journey. Seasons Centre relies solely on the support and generosity of our community. There are no fees for our programs. Children can attend programs regardless of their family’s financial situation. Founded by visionary parents as a compassionate alternative to institutional care, our nonprofit organization has evolved into a dynamic network of services that empower lives across the region. Victim Services of Simcoe County is a nonprofit organization providing immediate, confidential support to individuals impacted by crime and tragic circumstances. We offer crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and referral services 24/7 in collaboration with local police, emergency responders, and community partners. Our specialized programs include support for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and homicide. We are committed to empowering individuals through trauma-informed care and helping them access the resources they need to begin their path to healing.

We bring communities together to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Every Habitat home and community we build alongside our volunteers, future Habitat homeowners and partners changes the lives of parents and children. Our homeownership model plays an important role in helping families create a foundation for a life with more choices and opportunities. By mobilizing communities, keeping housing affordable, and giving families a hand up in a time of need, we are helping build a more inclusive, better community for everyone.

Barrie Bombers JR Lacrosse Club is a not-for-profit incorporation that has been in operation since the 2015 season, and is funded by sponsorship, fundraising and donations whenever available.  We are committed to always promoting and developing the game of lacrosse with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play.  We plan to develop community spirit and encourage good fellowship amongst all participants to the betterment of their physical, mental and social wellbeing thus our community. Our team has 10 Home Games (& 10 Away Games), played at Peggy Hill Team Community Centre, Barrie. The Executive and coaching staff are volunteers and do not receive any remuneration.  Sponsorship provides equipment, apparel, transportation costs and floor time for the team, thus keeping the enrollment fees down for our players, helping to keep sports affordable for families and providing opportunities to low-income families.  Lacrosse is Canada's national summer sport!

Earth Rangers is an environmental non-profit that empowers youth to take action for the environment. Our ER Teens program offers an opportunity for young Canadians aged 13-18 to take initiative for environmental causes they care about, such as wildlife conservation, climate change, sustainability, and more. By working remotely with staff, teens volunteer their time to complete an eco-action project of their choice; at home, at school, in their community, or online. Our flexible program ensures that teens can work at their own pace, while having the support and resources they need to make a positive impact.

We are here to help adults in our community bridge gaps in their reading, writing, math and computer skills, use these skills in everyday living, reach their own goals and improve their self-esteem. We achieve this through matching our students with dedicated tutors and using teaching methods that best suit each individual student. The Barrie Literacy Council is committed to training volunteers for the position of tutor and provides on-going support. Other volunteer positions are also available on our Board.

COPE Service Dogs is unleashing potential in youth, seniors and people living with disabilities. We train and provide placement of skilled service dogs for people living with mobility issues and for certified facility dogs who provide support in a variety of life changing facilities.

Rescue sanctuary for native wildlife and exotic animal species.  Operating for 35 years.  Permanent home for confiscated, surrendered and seized animals.  Over 25 different species.  Volunteer opportunities for high school students, co-operative education and retired persons.

Bridget’s Bunnies works to ensure no one endures pregnancy or infant loss alone. We do this by providing Comfort Kits to individuals and families in their moment of crisis, meeting them further along in their journey through our community celebration of love, Bridget’s Run, and through our Little Loss Libraries which provide discreet access to grief and loss resources to those who need them most throughout Simcoe-Muskoka.
