In 1974, a group of parents determined to find cures for their children living with type 1 diabetes came together to begin what is now Breakthrough T1D, launching the largest funder and advocate for T1D research in Canada. Our focus was and remains on finding cures for type 1 diabetes (T1D); since then, the organization has helped to fund research that has led to innovation and evolution of treatments that improve the quality of life for people living with T1D.

Through loving compassion and faith in action, De Mazenod Door Outreach serves to improve and empower the lives of the poor and marginalized in Hamilton. By providing food, housing, education, social supports and life skills development, we foster dignity, personal growth and hope for a better future. We work to provide a safe, inclusive environment for our guests, staff, volunteers, community partners and supporters, instilling a sense of community and belonging, where all are welcome and valued, and no one is turned away. Embracing Our Community Guests coming to the De Mazenod Door are treated with dignity and respect.  It is our goal that every single visitor to our door walks away with a true sense of community and a hot meal.
