Are you ready to make a difference and have a blast while doing it? Join the BMO Walk So Kids Can Talk Committee and become a superhero for youth mental health across Canada! Together, we’ll plan, cheer, and step up to create an event filled with joy, connection, and impact. Whether you’re a seasoned organizer or just passionate about the cause, we need your energy to make this year’s walk the most memorable yet. Event Committee Role Descriptions Committee Chair: Are you a natural leader and motivator? Help oversee the committee to ensure the success of the event in all capacities. Secretary: Attention to detail and organization are the key to keeping everyone on task and creating the best event experience for all event day participants, sponsors and volunteers. Volunteer Lead: Help recruit and train the event day volunteers, to ensure they are set up for success. Logistics Lead: Working alongside Kids Help Phone staff, this role will ensure all site logistics are in place and ready to go, this may include necessities such as tents, tables, stage, supplies, route markers, etc. Walk Route Lead: Identify the best walking route, while considering safety and ease of access. You will need to trouble shoot and address any route challenges that may occur, while ensuring all applicable permits and codes are attained and followed (along with the support of Kids Help Phone staff). Food & Beverage Lead: Organize onsite food and beverage distribution at the event and ensure all health and safety permits, codes and licenses are attained and followed. (I.e. Covid protocols). Sponsorship and Recognition Lead: Raising funds for Kids Help Phone’s 24/7 e-mental health services is the overall goal of our fundraising events. Help us stay open and accessible by leading the committee in sponsorship and participant recruitment efforts. Help to ensure our participants and sponsors feel supported and appreciated the whole way through, by staying connected with them, providing tips and celebrating their successes. Promotion and Recruitment Lead: Spread the word! Share details about the event by posting on community websites, social media pages, contributing to community partners and sponsors intranets or internal newsletters, working with local influencers and sourcing local media support. Don’t forget about word of mouth! Youth Representative: Creating a meaningful event for our youth audience is essential. As a youth facing organization, the Youth Representative will bring the perspective we need, in order to ensure everyone is represented in our event planning and execution efforts. Of course, we will also ask you to help recruit other young people to participate too!
