The funds raised through Bingo provide substantial financial support for each municipality where we have a Bingo location, helping to sustain existing programs and introduce new initiatives tailored to the needs of the local community. By volunteering and committing to attending scheduled shifts, you directly contribute to creating opportunities, resources, and support for autistic individuals and their families in your area. If shifts and commitments are not met at the Bingo Hall, Autism Ontario directly loses revenue. Your support is crucial. Assisting guests: Greet players, provide information about the games, and ensure a welcoming and friendly environment.Assisting Bingo Hall services: Support the delivery of food at Bingo Halls with food services.Event setup & clean-up: Set up tables, chairs, and materials for bingo sessions and help tidy the hall during and after Bingo sessions.Safety & compliance: Follow Hall safety rules and OLG regulations to ensure a safe and compliant gaming environment.Promoting programs: Share information with participants about how Bingo funds support local programs and events.Any other duties as specified by the Bingo Hall organizers.

The Canadian Cancer Society is recruiting Event Day volunteers for the CIBC Run for the Cure taking place in Barrie on October 4th. Volunteer roles include set up, registration, route marshal, green team, and much more! You can choose a specific role and shift(s) based on your availability. The CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. When you volunteer at the Canadian Cancer Society you have real impact. It takes all of us to take on cancer. We are seeking dedicated and reliable English-speaking volunteers to tutor adult learners in reading, writing, and/or math. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and are working to build foundational skills to support their personal, academic, or career goals. Requirements: • Strong command of spoken and written English, fundamentals of English grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary. • Clear and understandable English pronunciation, suitable for learners who are developing foundational literacy skills. Our students are learning the building blocks of English literacy. Tutors must be able to model typical English pronunciation and grammar. We provide training and ongoing support. No formal teaching experience is necessary—just patience, empathy, and a strong grasp of English.Attending an Information Session is mandatory before training. No experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to help!High School Students will receive 1.5 hours for each hour they volunteer to be a part of this event. We have three different volunteer positions that we need to fill for this race. If you are interested in signing up to be a volunteer you can select your preferences during the registration process. However, volunteers will be positioned based on where we need them the most.1. Water Station Volunteer Multiple shifts available throughout the event (8:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 1:00PM - 6:00 PM)Responsibilities Set up and organize hydration and nutrition supplies.Fill and restock hydration, and snacks throughout your shift.Keep the station clean by collecting discarded cups and garbage.Notify event staff if supplies are running low or if a runner requires assistance.2. Course Marshall Multiple shifts available throughout the event (8:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 1:00PM - 6:00 PM)Direct runners along the correct route using signs, hand signals, and verbal direction.Monitor your assigned section for hazards or safety concerns.Remain at your assigned location until relieved by another volunteer or event staff.3. Finish Line VolunteerMinimal volunteers required for these positions, volunteer shift is from 8:30AM - 12:30PM with two roles available: Finish Line Medals Congratulate athletes as they cross the finish line and hand out finisher medals. Ensure the finish corral is clear of any athletes standing at the finish line.Finish Line Food and Water Help distribute food and water to participants after the race. Collect food tickets from participants. Check-In Details: Volunteers are expected to arrive on time for their check in-time. When you arrive on site you will check in with the volunteer captain at the start/finish line.What to Bring: Wear weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. Autism Ontario offers hundreds of one-time events and multi-week programs across the province each year. If you love working directly with people, have a passion for making a difference and have an ability to motivate and inspire others, this is the position for you! Volunteer support for these programs is critical for their success. *Please note that programs can be one day, or can run weekly, biweekly or monthly. Some programs will run for four to six weeks. To ensure consistency for our participants program volunteers will need to be able to commit to dedicated dates, times and schedules as they align with program offerings. If you are unable to fully commit to a program because of a scheduling conflict, please be mindful of this. This volunteer service is often a great fit for individuals, students, and retirees who are looking for an ongoing and consistent commitment to the organization.Duties may include:Preparation of program materials and support in program planning.Directly supporting the coordinator with delivery of the program.Supporting participants who may need additional support to fully experience the program.Other duties that support the success of program delivery as defined by the coordinator.

The Youth Justice Committee (YJC) bring together youth 12-17 who have been involved in the Criminal Justice System, their parent(s) or guardians, and trained members of the community. Together, the youth plan and agree to make amends for their actions. This program offers youth alternative measures to the Criminal Justice System for youth in; Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Stayner, Bradford, and Innisfil. In this volunteer role:You would attend YJC meetings to determine appropriate and meaningful ways for the youth to make amends for their actions. Ensure that the youth is aware of the purpose of the meeting and willing to discuss the matter.Explore the perspectives of all parties in each situation.Present and agree upon appropriate and meaningful sanctions for youth to complete in order to be successful in the program.Respect the confidentiality of the youth and other YJC members throughout the process.In order to begin the volunteer application process, applicants must submit a current resume to the Volunteer Coordinator, a volunteer application, two personal references, attend an in-person interview with the Volunteer Coordinator, and submit a recent Vulnerable Sector Check.
