Volunteer Opportunity! Are you interested in changing the lives of our community’s youth? Are you resourceful, love to work with your hands and skilled in trades? If so, then we have a position for you! We’re Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District and we’re seeking a dynamic individual to join our Board. This individual understands and demonstrates a commitment to our organization’s mission and programs. The position, Facilities, will be responsible for taking a lead role in project related tasks. The following is an overview of the role: Required to represent the organization in the community Required to ensure the minimum standards of service, approved by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada, are attained by the organization Responsible for recommending qualified tradespersons when required Responsible for ensuring tradespersons have current WSIB clearance certificates and ensuring that they are complying with the Health and Safety Program while performing duties Informs the Executive Director if the maintenance work required to be performed is outside the scope of his/her qualifications Facilitates basic repairs on the building as required and requested by the Executive Director Facilitates basic landscaping duties as required Participates in monthly board meetings Participates in the Board evaluation process established by the Board We’re looking for someone who has the ability to conduct routine preventative maintenance in our office and has a good knowledge of basic repairs and landscaping. As well, the individual is dependable, trustworthy, has excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written), and has the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the board.
