There are volunteering opportunities in the Barrie area, and we would love to have you volunteer with us. We have a group of folks who normally volunteer at our Barrie clinic as well as mobile clinics in the community but we are always looking for new volunteers who are able to support the program! A Donor Centre Volunteer’s main responsibility is in the hospitality area of blood donor events.  Volunteers play an integral part in maintaining donor relationships as they provide a warm and welcoming environment post donation. They offer refreshments, thank donors and monitor for donor reactions.  Volunteers work hand in hand with clinic staff to ensure a positive donation experience. We are however, looking for volunteers who can commit to a regular shift for at least a six-month term. This does not mean that you would have to volunteer at every event but just that, we would need to know that we could count on you to take a regular shift. ie a two hour shift every other clinic or we could count on you to provide backup if another volunteer calls in.  Events in Barrie with volunteer shifts generally being two hours to two and half hours long. If this type of volunteering  opportunity  is something that resonates with you, I would be happy to move to next steps. Please note, all volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated (2 government approved doses) against Covid 19 and will need to show me proof (one time only) prior to being scheduled for a volunteer shift.
