A Friendly Voice is a free, confidential “warm line” for older Ontarians, 55+ who just want to chat with a friendly person who cares, without expectations or judgment.

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Volunteer Driver Responsibilities: - Drive the child(ren)/youth in your own vehicle to an appointment/activity, and pick up the child(ren)/youth at an appointed place and time - Assist the child(ren)/youth to get in and out of the vehicle safely - Escort the child(ren)/youth to and from the appointment activity Requirements - A criminal record check (including vulnerable populations) free of charges or convictions - Possess a valid Ontario Driver's license and a safe driving record - Attend agency car seat training - A clean driver's abstract - Have access to a road worthy and safe vehicle - Minimum of $1 Million liability insurance - Patience and understanding - Reliable and punctual - Knowledge of the community - Able to offer physical support to the child(lifting), youth or adult - Trustworthy - Access to a computer (mileage submission) - Cell phone

WHAT IS SHOPPING ANGELS? Shopping Angels is a program designed to provide services to those populations deemed especially at-risk for the novel COVID-19 virus that is spreading throughout Canada. In addition to a Canadian branch, there are branches of Shopping Angels in all fifty states and Australia with close to 5,000 volunteers. To help ease the uncertainty, anxiety, and fear surrounding this pandemic, we are looking for volunteers to personally deliver groceries or other shopping necessities to those who may prefer to stay within the safety of their own home at no additional cost. Shopping Angels is a free delivery service for groceries and other necessities. At this time, we cannot guarantee to provide these items free of charge. Some local branches may receive local donations of items or may establish partnerships with local food banks/pantries and other organizations that provide these items free of charge. HOW DOES IT WORK? Both the volunteer and client fill out the google form to give us information on how close they are to each other, and we give that information to state coordinators. The volunteer then receives an email regarding protocol and the client’s address. From here, the volunteer will reach out to the client to coordinate a shopping trip and delivery! The 705 is a recovery hub for self help and recovery groups to connect, hold events, meetings and support groups with the intention of helping those who are experiencing addiction and alcoholism. The 705 operates on generosity and volunteers. Visitors can also come to the hub to receive information about recovery services and resources.

Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag is a multi-service Indigenous Child Well-Being Agency. ​We deliver culturally-intelligent services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth, and families living on and off territory. With our team of dedicated staff, we work with children, youth, and families as early as possible to help them navigate various obstacles and access services available to them. We offer services such as Child & Youth Mental Health & Addictions, Youth Justice, Youth in Transition, Pre- and Post-Natal Support, Education, Family Service, and Alternative Care.

Listening Post Barrie is an initiative of Burton Avenue United Church. We are community folks who show up with open hearts and a non-judgmental presence for people to be heard with compassion at various locations in Barrie.

It started with the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem in 1099 creating a hospital to treat pilgrims and crusaders. Now a world-wide non-denominational charitable organization, Saint John is dedicated to the service of others in over 40 countries; with more than 30,000 members. St John is supported by approximately 250,000 regular volunteers and 4,000 employees. Still in Jerusalem, St. John Eye Hospital treats patients free of charge with satellite clinics in Gaza, Hebron & Anabta.  On average the Hospital treats 125,000 patients per year including 38,000 children and performed 5,200 sight-saving operations last year.  Services around the globe include: eye clinics in South Africa, hospices in Antigua, dental clinics in Uganda, dialysis clinics in Malaysia, HIV/AIDS Counseling and testing services in Jamaica, Mother and Baby programs in Kenya. In Australia and New Zealand, St. John provides paramedic services (EMS). In Ontario, St. John Ambulance (SJA) is currently divided into 12 Regions and 3 Service Centers. SJA Council for Ontario has more than 139 years of continuous service to the citizens of Ontario. Simcoe Muskoka Branch members have been volunteering to help people for more than 81 years. Simcoe Muskoka’s Community Services are comprised of Medical First Responders, Therapy Dogs, Car Seat Educators, Youth Unit, Non-uniform volunteers and Fellowship members. They contribute more than 20,000 hours each year in total. Simcoe Muskoka Branch has its own Board of Directors which oversees the activities of its volunteers, provides strategic direction and maintains the Branch profile with the Community.  Board membership also participates in one or more of five committees as follows: Community Services Committee; Community Relations Committee; Honours and Awards Committee; Fund Development Committee; and Northern Development Committee. Shortly, there will be two openings on our Board. We seek people to join us who have interest in our Purpose (Saving Lives) and can bring insight and experience in one or more of Marketing, Community Relations and Fund Development and who live either in Simcoe County. In terms of time, there are roughly 9 Board meetings a year as well as Committee work. Involvement, depending on portfolio could be from 5-20 hours per month (when there’s a Board meeting, usually less when not). The Learning Disabilities Association of York-Simcoe (LDAYS), formally known as Learning Disabilities Association of York Region (LDAYR) is a charitable non-profit organization which was established in 1976. We provide leadership in Learning Disabilities advocacy, research, education and services, and strive to advance the full participation of children, youth and adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) in society.

Seasons Centre for Grieving Children is a charitable organization serving Simcoe County and beyond. Since December 1995 Seasons Centre has been providing peer to peer support groups for our community’s children/teens and their families grieving the death, or life-threatening illness of an immediate family member. Participants are supported through the grief process by professional program staff  and trained volunteer grief facilitators in a safe, non-judgmental, home like atmosphere. One of the goals of our peer support groups is to provide participants with the essential skills to promote grieving in healthy ways; thus, building resiliency in our children. Our programs are unique and are designed to provide children with the opportunity to express their feelings in socially acceptable ways. During the group sessions various grief emotions and coping strategies are discussed in child friendly ways. Many of our participants have expressed that Seasons Centre is the only place where they have felt comfortable, understood, and not alone in their grief journey. Seasons Centre relies solely on the support and generosity of our community. There are no fees for our programs. Children can attend programs regardless of their family’s financial situation.
