Journey to Diversity Workplaces: Respecting Differences Ethically, Morally, and Legally
Journey to Diversity Workplaces is a unique project with the aim of changing the workplace for the better forever.
We believe that everyone deserves respect and fair treatment when it comes to work and payment, no matter who they are or what they look like.
This is why we started this experiment so we can make sure that everyone is respected, diversity is celebrated and our differences are considered our strengths not our weaknesses!
At J2DW there are no bosses and employees – we are all equals.
We are a member of OnGood, Charity Village, CIRA, and the Ontario Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. We also partner with VolunteerMatch.
Through digitally-enabled, in-school and after-school learning, JA students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to realize the opportunities, and realities, of work, school, and life.
JA experiences and events empower young people to think about and plan their futures, supported by our network of educators, corporate partners and volunteers. JA students consider how the career paths they take, the financial decisions they make – and perhaps the companies they create – will be not only successful, but also have positive social and environmental impact.
Students benefit on this journey from the mentorship and inspiration of our JA network – professionals who share real-world experience of navigating, shaping, and re-shaping their own stories.
I Challenge Diabetes (ICD) was founded by Chris Jarvis, a former Canadian Olympic rower living with type 1 diabetes. During his athletic career, Chris recognized a significant lack of understanding and support for those managing type 1 diabetes. This inspired him to create I Challenge Diabetes—a charity dedicated to empowering individuals in the diabetes community with the skills, resources, and inspiration to take control of their health and live vibrant, fulfilling lives.
What began as a grassroots movement has grown into a national organization, building a strong, supportive community for those affected by diabetes. Through educational programs, mentorship, and ongoing support, I Challenge Diabetes enables individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. Since 2015, ICD has proudly delivered over 1,000 programs in more than 125 cities across Canada, offering over 74,000 opportunities for mentorship, training, and empowerment.

A small baroque orchestra, performing in Collier St. Church, under the direction of Oliver Balaburski, was the genesis of the present day Huronia Symphony Orchestra. Now celebrating its 51th season, the HSO is the sole community orchestra in Barrie and Simcoe County. The orchestra is comprised of 55 talented and dedicated volunteer musicians from the community and five professionals who lead the major sections. Members are drawn from all walks of life and reflect the diverse social fabric of this dynamic region.

Throughout the year, we host a variety of events that rely on the support of enthusiastic volunteers to help create a welcoming, fun and well-organized experience for participants and guests.
We bring communities together to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Every Habitat home and community we build alongside our volunteers, future Habitat homeowners and partners changes the lives of parents and children.
Our homeownership model plays an important role in helping families create a foundation for a life with more choices and opportunities. By mobilizing communities, keeping housing affordable, and giving families a hand up in a time of need, we are helping build a more inclusive, better community for everyone.
Grove Park Home is a charitable, not for profit, Long Term Care Home established in Barrie in 1968. The Home provides care for 143 Long Term Care residents, as well as offering Retirement Living suites and an Adult Day Program.

Glowing Hearts Charity (formerly known as Glowing Hearts Community Give & Get Centres) is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to disrupting the cycle of poverty by empowering children and youth to realize their full potential.

Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka provides free emotional and social support programs for individuals and families affected by cancer throughout Simcoe Muskoka and surrounding communities.
Our programs support not only individuals diagnosed with cancer, but also caregivers, families, and those experiencing grief or loss. Services include support groups, wellness activities, social connection opportunities, educational programming, and community events designed to ensure nobody has to navigate cancer alone.
Everything we offer is provided at no cost to participants, making community support, fundraising, and volunteer involvement essential to the work we do.
Beyond support services, Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka is focused on creating meaningful community experiences that bring people together while increasing awareness around the growing need for accessible cancer support services across the region.
Fire and Fun is a performance partnership striving to add artistic and social value to communities. When not preforming or running workshops, Fire and Fun is committed to helping the disadvantaged feel represented and aided with their concerns.
