Opportunity Description:

Program Description: Have you ever wanted to learn chess? Children and teens ages 8-16 years of age are invited to join local student Jake for a fun filled summer afternoon of chess and learning.  Participants will learn the basic concepts of chess such as basic information on the chess pieces,  how to get to checkmate, how to play a fun or competitive game, and how to solve chess puzzles.  This program is also for children and teens who already know how to play chess and want to expand their knowledge of this extraordinary game. Volunteer Responsibilities: BPL is looking for volunteers to assist children and teens learn the rules of the game and help them participate. MUST KNOW HOW TO PLAY CHESS. Must be comfortable taking direction from Jake who is the student lead on this program.
